Atlantic Records is a 75 years old American record label founded by Ahmet Ertegun and Herb Abramson in 1947 and now the chairman is Craig Kallman. Is one of the most recognized labels in America specializing in Jazz, R&B, and Soul by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Ruth Brown, and Otis Redding. Staz record label in distribution improved the position of Atlantic. Warner Bros.-Seven Arts in 1967 became the parent company now Warner Music Group which lead it into pop and rock music with releases by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Led Zeppelin, and Yes. In 2004 Atlantic and Elektra merged to become Atlantic Record Group. Ahmet Ertegun became the founding chairman till his death on December 14, 2006 at age 83.
