Bio
From the township streets of KwaMashu in Durban rose a performer whose stage presence quickly became impossible to ignore. Dladla Mshunqisi, born Anele Dladla, grew up surrounded by music and dance, entertaining crowds at community gatherings and developing a natural connection with audiences. His nickname “Mshunqisi,” meaning someone who brings life to the party, reflects the lively spirit that defines his performances. He first gained wider attention in 2017 through a feature on Benny Maverick’s track “Memeza,” which earned several nominations, including Song of the Year recognition at South African award platforms. Later that year, he achieved national fame with “Omunye,” a collaboration with Distruction Boyz that became a major cultural moment and appeared on the soundtrack for Black Panther. He later secured Best Gqom Album at the South African Music Awards and also runs Amathiba Catering, while curating the 'Usuku Lomshunqo Music Festival' celebrating Durban’s music culture.
