Amanda Faku, professionally known as Ami Faku, is a multi-award-winning South African singer and songwriter. Born in the township of eZinyoka, Gqeberha, she initially began her career under her birth name while competing as a Top 16 contestant on The Voice South Africa in 2017. She later adopted the stage name "Ami" to distinguish her unique musical brand from other artists.
Faku's ascent to stardom was strong, with her 2019 debut album, "Imali," reaching Gold status and earning her Female Artist of the Year at the 2020 SAMAs. Known for her "breathy" vocals and emotive Xhosa lyrics, she has mastered the fusion of Afrosoul and Amapiano. Her influence spans global charts, highlighted by massive collaborations such as the triple-platinum “Into Ingawe” with Sun-El Musician and features with Black Coffee, making her one of the most-streamed female artists in South Africa.
