Bongani Mlotshwa, professionally known as Bongza, is a South African DJ, producer, and recording artist from Diepkloof, Soweto. He discovered his passion for music at a young age, experimenting with electronic beats and layered acappella harmonies before Amapiano entered the mainstream.
Beginning his professional career around 2013, he developed a polished, melodic sound associated with the “private school” style, defined by emotive chords and intricate log drum rhythms. His signing to Piano Hub, founded by Kabza De Small, significantly elevated his profile. A defining chapter of his journey is his partnership with MDU aka TRP, with whom he helped refine the modern Amapiano log drum sound, notably on "Pull Up Project" (2020). His 2022 album "Bayeke," featuring “Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe” with Nomcebo Zikode, expanded his reach. Subsequent releases, including "Yashintsha Impilo," "NONJABULO," "Story To Tell," and recent singles, continue to affirm his influence.
