Elisabeth Finant, professionally known as Abeti Masikini, was a Congolese-French singer and songwriter. She developed her skills in playing the organ and piano through church and school. As a teenager, she began participating in singing competitions, where her talent shone. In 1970, she secured third place in a festival, catching the attention of Togolese promoter Gérard Akueson, who was scouting for emerging artists. This marked the beginning of her successful career, filled with tours and recognition. Abeti reached a significant milestone when she performed at the Olympia stage in 1973, solidifying her musical identity. Her music transcended genres, including soukous, Congolese rumba, folk, and blues. Despite her short life, she recorded 21 albums for various record labels before her untimely passing at the age of 39.
