Abraham Afewerki was a singer, Songwriter, and music producer from Eritrea. Abraham developed an interest in music at a young age, he took up the harmonica. He lived in Italy, where he learned to play the krar. His songs are popular because his lyrics express strong and poetic images of Eritea's cultures. He died in 2006 while trying to save a friend in the Red Sea. His music continues to be popular and influential in Eritrea and Ethiopia.
