Akon, born Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam, is a Senegalese-American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Akon rose to fame in 2004 with his hit single "Locked Up," followed by several other successful albums, including "Trouble," "Konvicted," and "Freedom." He has collaborated with many popular artists, including Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, and T-Pain. Aside from his music career, Akon is also an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and activist. He has launched several successful businesses, including Akon Lighting Africa, a project that aims to provide solar-powered electricity to African countries. Akon has won numerous awards throughout his career, including Grammy Awards, World Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.
