As a prominent member of Weusi, a renowned Tanzanian hip-hop group, he gained widespread recognition in 2006 with the release of "Chochote Popotea," establishing himself as a rising star in Tanzanian hip-hop. The same year marked the launch of his debut album, "Zamu Yangu." In 2014, he expanded his influence across the African music scene, collaborating with notable artists such as Davido, AKA, and Chidinma. His national hit, "Dont Bother," featuring AKA, has garnered significant radio and television airplay throughout Africa. Joh Makini also serves as the CEO of Makini Music, his independent record label.
