Bio
Arno Carstens is a platinum-selling, award-winning South African singer-songwriter and fine artist known for shaping the country’s modern rock landscape. Born in Cape Town in 1972, he gained prominence in the 1990s as the frontman of The Springbok Nude Girls, a band celebrated for energetic performances and multiple wins at the South African Music Awards. Carstens began his solo career with "Another Universe" (2003), which won the SAMA for Best Rock Album. He later released several projects in English and Afrikaans, including the award-winning "The Hello Goodbye Boys" and the heritage-inspired "Die Aandblom 13," contributing to a solo catalog that has earned him five SAMAs. His songwriting blends influences from punk, ska, metal, and funk. Beyond music, Carstens is an accomplished visual artist who works primarily with oil on canvas. After stepping back from touring in 2007 to focus on painting, he held his first solo exhibition in 2012.
