Bien-Aimé Baraza, popularly known as Bien, is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, guitarist, and music entrepreneur.
Born on 28 December 1987 in Nairobi, Bien was influenced by local and global music from childhood. He co-founded the Afro-pop group Sauti Sol in 2005 with schoolmates Savara Mudigi, Willis Chimano, and Polycarp Otieno.
As the band’s lead vocalist and key songwriter, Bien contributed to landmark albums including "Mwanzo" (2008), and "Live and Die in Afrika" (2015), helping bring Kenyan Afropop to international audiences.
He later launched a solo career, releasing the acclaimed EP "Bald Men Love Better" (2021) and debut album "Alusa Why Are You Topless?" (2023), featuring collaborations with Ayra Starr, Ms Banks, and Scar Mkadinali.
Bien has earned numerous awards, including a Grammy for songwriting on Burna Boy’s Twice as Tall (2021), and Best African Song at the Basata Music Awards (2024).
He is also a co-founder of Sol Generation Records and actively supports African creative initiatives.
