Gerard Mendes, better known as Boy Gé Mendès, is a Senegal-born Cape Verdean musician. Growing up in a family of great morna and coladeira singers, Gerald polished his musical skills and learned to play the guitar. He moved to France when he was older, joining his brothers to establish the band Cabo Verde Show, which he left in 1982 before going solo. In 1998, Mendes released the album "Lagoa" which launched him into the limelight in the music industry.
