Cheikh Tidiane Tall, born in 1946, was a renowned Senegalese musician and instrumentalist celebrated for his significant contributions to African music. Hailing from Dakar, Senegal, Tall was highly regarded for his extensive knowledge of traditional African instruments. A founding member of the pioneering Xalam ensemble in 1968, later known as 'Le Sahel,' he played a crucial role in shaping the contemporary Senegalese music scene. Tall's innovative fusion of traditional and modern musical elements left a lasting impact on African music, captivating audiences locally and internationally. Unfortunately, he passed away on March 10, 2017, in Dakar, following an illness.
