Cheikha Djénia, whose real name is Fatna Mébarki, was an Algerian singer of pure traditional Raï and Oran Bedoui music. She made her artistic debut in the 1970s by hosting weddings and parties. In the mid-1980s, she modernized her style, which brought her new success, including international concerts in Europe. Throughout her long career, Cheikha Djénia distinguished herself with hits such as "Kayen Rabi" and "Ha Nounou," until her death in 2004, following a car accident.
