Oupa John Sefoka, widely known as DJ Sumbody, was a South African DJ, producer, and businessman. He grew up in Pretoria, where his love for music and nightlife began. Starting as a DJ and event host, he later moved into producing music and became a familiar name in house and amapiano circles.
He was also one of the minds behind Ayepyep Lifestyle, a well-known Pretoria venue that mixed entertainment, food, and music. The space became a platform for local talent and helped grow the amapiano culture in the city.
DJ Sumbody was praised for his energy and the way he encouraged young artists. His passing in November 2022 shocked the music industry, but he is remembered for his role in shaping Pretoria’s sound and for building spaces that celebrated South African music.
