BioIt’s impossible to talk about Nigerian highlife’s golden age without mentioning Ferdinand Chukwuemeka Okpara, known as Dan-Satch. Starting as a young auto mechanic and musician in the heart of Owerri, Imo State, he nurtured a dream that took root in Lagos, where he founded the legendary Oriental Brothers International Band and crafted a legacy that still resonates.
From 1973 to 1996, Dan-Satch was the heartbeat of the band, not only as a vocalist but also as a guitarist, shaping a sound that swept Nigeria. Despite internal conflicts and shifting members, he kept the band's spirit alive.
In 2022, after a two-decade hiatus, Dan-Satch returned, recording a new album with Livinus Alaribe (Aquila), reigniting fans’ nostalgia and proving that some legacies only grow stronger with time.
