Bio
Dany Engobo is a Congolese musician best known for his leadership of Les Coeurs Brises. His musical adventure began in Brazzaville, where he worked on several tunes with guitar maestro Diblo Dibala. He relocated to Paris in 1976 and created Les Coeurs Brises, a band of musicians from France, Algeria, Israel, and Congolese dancers residing in Paris. They traveled widely, but he never played in his own country. Engobo learned French upon arrival and now performs globally in Lingala and French. Engobo and his dancers were instrumental in popularizing the Ndombolo dance style, which emphasizes female dancer moves and combines traditional and burlesque aspects.
