Bio
Legendary and iconic are the words that best describe Angolan musician Gabriel David José Ferreira, who was famous by the name David Zé. His chorister parents first sparked his passion for music, and Angolan vocalist Urbano de Castro had a significant impact. Zé became known for vocally opposing decolonization through his music. After his debut record was released in 1975, he gained widespread recognition, but his career was short-lived when he was assassinated in a failed coup.
