Derek de Beer stands as a seasoned artist celebrated for his expertise in drumming, percussion, and songwriting. Hailing from Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, his illustrious career spans four decades. Derek has notably collaborated with renowned brands like Sabian Cymbals, rim-short sticks, pearl drums, and Remo Skins. Boasting two decades of professional drumming experience, he contributed to the success of bands like Savuka, which earned 11 gold LPs across nine countries. Throughout his musical journey around the world, Derek graced stages alongside iconic figures such as Johnny Clegg, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, and Robert Palmer. In 1997, he pioneered the "Rhythm Safari" educational program, introducing Canadian schoolchildren to the vibrant rhythms of African music.
