Rachael Desire Luzinda, born Rachael Nancy Luzinda in Ibanda, Uganda, is a renowned Ugandan singer-songwriter and philanthropist. She gained fame in the mid-2000s with popular tracks like “Mubiite,” “Nyumirwa Nyo,” “Ekitone,” “Equation,” and “Ebyama,” performing in Luganda, English, and Swahili. Beyond her music, she built a career as a TV and radio presenter on WBS TV and Dembe FM, earning accolades such as PAM Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Artist in 2007, along with multiple HiPipo nominations. After a highly publicized photo scandal in 2014, she spoke on BBC about her experience and transitioned into gospel music. Now based in California, she launched the Desire Luzinda Foundation International in 2021, focusing on empowering young girls and supporting mental health initiatives.
