Bio
Sbusiso Leope, famously known as DJ Sbu, is a visionary South African entrepreneur, broadcaster, and musician who embodies the spirit of the African "hustle." Born in Tembisa in 1977, he rose to fame through iconic radio stints at YFM and Metro FM, and by hosting the hit TV show Friends Like These. As a music mogul, he co-founded TS Records, launching the career of the legendary Zahara and popularizing the masked Kwaito character Mzekezeke. Beyond entertainment, Sbu made history by creating MoFaya, the first 100% black-owned energy drink in South Africa. A dedicated philanthropist, he founded the Sbusiso Leope Education Foundation to provide bursaries to disadvantaged youth. In 2026, he continues to dominate digital spaces via The Hustlers Corner podcast and was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring impact on South Africa’s creative and entrepreneurial landscape.
