Bio
Some names are chosen for flair; DOTTi the Deity picked his to announce a purpose. “DOTTi” comes from Oladotun, while “The Deity” reflects the spiritual, culture-rooted energy in his music. Born Okeowo Oladotun Alani on July 20, 1994, in Ibadan, he moved to Lagos to live with his grandparents. Music found him early; at six, he composed his first song at his grandfather’s dining table. He earned a National Diploma in Music Technology from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in 2013. DOTTi’s “Nu Age Folk” blends Nigerian folk, Yoruba cosmology, Soul, and Jazz. He debuted professionally in 2019 with Jolly Christmas, released Songs in Isolation (2020), won MTN Y’ello Star (2021), and broke through with Forever Sweet (2022). He followed with For You Knew Me (2023). His musical influences include Asa, Lagbaja, and King Sunny Ade, with his collaborations spanning Cobhams Asuquo, RotimiKeys, Omawumi, and Falz.
