Bio
Few artists in Uganda carry a story as compelling as Dr. Propa, born John Hall Arinaibye. His life began with tragedy. Losing his mother at birth and growing up without close ties to relatives or a clan. Despite these hardships, he drew strength from determination and education, which later opened the path to music. By the early 2000s, Dr. Propa had entered Uganda’s music space with a sound shaped by Afrobeat, gospel, and ragga. His style stood out as uplifting, streetwise, and relatable. Songs like Mimbye, Ngenda Kuvubiika, Kankwagale, and Omwana W’omwavu highlighted both daily struggles and triumphs, earning him a loyal audience. Over time, his work gained industry recognition, with appearances in award listings such as the Kisima Music Awards. While not driven by accolades, this acknowledgment underscored his influence and resilience. Today, Dr. Propa continues to use music as a platform for expression and connection.
