Emmanuel Kembe is a famous reggae singer, songwriter, and guitarist from South Sudan. He was born in what was then New Sudan, now South Sudan, before being banned from his home country for singing against inequality and injustice. He lived as a refugee in the United States for eleven years before breaking out with his debut album, Shen-Shen, in 1999.
