He taught himself to sing by listening to classical music and his neighbor's guitar strumming every evening. Dominguez became one of the lead singers of Wenge Musica in 1984. He was prominently present on Wenge Maison Mère’s Solola Bien! album.
In March 2001, he left Werrason’s Wenge Musica Maison Mère and created the group Wenge Tonya Tonya. On Tonya Tonya’s debut album, Affaire Tonya Tonya, he introduced a new dance, bawu na bawu, which he hopes will replace the ndombolo.
Adolphe Dominguez has released several albums since, notably Mouna (2002), Suspension (2010), and Piece contre Piece (2021).
