Gé Korsten, originally Gérard Korsten, left an indelible mark on the realms of South African Afrikaans music, opera, and acting. His musical odyssey commenced at 20 when he harmonized with choirs, laying the foundation for a spectacular career. In 1955, he co-founded the Pretoria Opera Group and made his operatic debut as Canio in "Pagliacci" in 1956. In 1965, his album "Gé Korsten Sing Uit Die Hart" catapulted him to stardom, cementing his status as a top-selling recording artist. Korsten's illustrious journey garnered numerous accolades. He was not just a gifted actor but also took the helm as the managing director of the Cape Performing Arts Board for four years. In 1999, Gé Korsten bid adieu at the age of 71, leaving behind an enduring legacy.
