General Afron Ugan (born Seruwagi Jackson, August 17, 1989, at Mulago Hospital, Kampala) is a Ugandan reggae, dancehall, and ragga artist. The son of Retired Lieutenant Mark Matooma of the National Resistance Army (now UPDF), he grew up deeply influenced by both discipline and creativity.
He began school in 1996 at Kikoma Lewin Primary before continuing at Mubende Army Primary, Standard High School Zzana, and later Zana Mixed Secondary School, where he completed his O’ and A’ Levels.
Branding himself the “Pearl King of Reggae, Ragga, Dancehall ting in Africa,” Afron Ugan fronts the Da Ubens Quality Music Empire, a Mubende-based promotions group he founded to spotlight grassroots talent.
His notable songs include "Hand in Hand" for Uganda, a patriotic reggae anthem marking Uganda’s 50th independence anniversary; "Mr. Yungwe," a multilingual dancehall track tackling deception and survival; and "Mumundekele Baibe," a playful love song fusing African, jazz, and big-band influences.
