Gerald Mukasa (born circa 1952–1954 in Masaka, Uganda; died late 1970s–early 1980s) was a prominent figure in Uganda’s Kadongo Kamu tradition, singing in Luganda with a single guitar accompaniment. Beginning his career in the early 1970s under the influence of Masaka’s folk pioneers, he released hits like “Kyakwambala,” “Mpawo Atalifa,” and most famously, “Nabadda” in 1973. His music surfaced again in late 2023 and early 2024 via TikTok, reviving his legacy with a new generation. Though exact birth and death dates are undocumented, Mukasa’s storytelling and sparse acoustic style secured his enduring place in Ugandan musical heritage.
