BioGerard Sekoto was a South African musician and artist. He is widely regarded as the father of urban black art and social realism. Andreas Sekoto, a prominent member of the new Christian converts, was his father. Sekoto attended Wonderhoek, a school founded by his father, a priest and teacher. As the son of a missionary, he grew up with music and was introduced to the family harmonium at a young age.
