Jaffari Msham Ally, professionally known as Jaffarai, is a renowned Tanzanian rapper, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur who helped define the Bongo Flava sound. Growing up during the late 1990s, he drew inspiration from Tanzania’s urban music scene. He first gained attention as part of the hip-hop group Wateule, known for its authentic narratives and influence on early Tanzanian hip-hop. In 2003, he launched a solo career, releasing albums such as “Niko Busy (2004),” and “Jaffarhymes (2008),” producing hits like “Niko Bize,” featuring Daz Baba and “Sio Kweli” featuring Lady Jaydee. Jaffarai later co-founded the East African supergroup “Wabakiaja”with Kenyan artist Nazizi and Tanzanian rapper Jay Moe, he also appeared in Bongo Movies. Jaffarai bagged Multiple nominations, including Best Song, Best Collaboration, and Channel O Music Video Awards, highlighting his lasting influence in East African music.
