    Joseph Réginald Topize, popularly known with the moniker "Kaya" was a Mauritian musician and the inventor of "Seggae", a hybrid of Mauritian sega and reggae. He started learning the guitar at age 16. With his first band, "Wind and Fire," he performed tunes by musicians like Mike Brant, Santana, Deep Purple, and others at weddings and celebrations. Topize chose the name "Kaya" to honor Marley's album of the same name shortly after becoming acquainted with Bob Marley and reggae music.

    Popularly known as Papa Noel Nedule or Papa Noel, Antoine Nedule Monswet is a Congolese guitarist and musician. He was born on Christmas day in 1940, which gave rise to the name "Papa Noel." He was a member of the popular band TPOK Jazz in the 60's. He left and joined Les Bantous de la Capitale, under which he composed "Basili Koyokana" and "Mobali Liboso." He later founded his band Bamboula, which thrived for a while but witnessed a series of defections and later ceased to exist. Papa Noel still releases music either as a solo artist or by collaborations. Some of his popular releases include Cafe Noir, Bana Congo, and Bel Ami.

Madlingozi rose to fame when he and his band Peto won the Shell Road to Fame contest in 1986. He later formed a group called Gecko Moon with Alan Cameron, a fellow Peto member.

Zêdess's popularity continued to grow in West Africa with the release of his album "Where are we going?", featuring the hit song "Director thief", which was broadcast on Africa No 1. Zêdess has released several albums and tours extensively in Burkina Faso and Europe. In 2005, he gained international recognition during the French presidential campaign.
