Papa WembaCongo |1949| FrenchPapa Wemba, also crowned "King of Rumba Rock, was a Congolese artist and band leader whose music genres were Congolese rumba, ndombolo, and soukous.
He was also the proponent of the fashion style and look, known as Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes d‘Élégance (SAPE).
On April 24, 2016 at the FEMUA urban music festival in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Papa Wemba collapsed on stage and the medical team wasn't able to resuscitate him. He died at age 66.
