BioGodwin Kabaka Opara, better known as Kabaka, was a highly regarded Nigerian highlife musician and instrumentalist with a career spanning seven decades. He gained fame as a member of the Oriental Brothers International, a prominent 1970s highlife band. His musical journey led him from trumpet and trombone playing to becoming a skilled guitarist. After the Oriental Brothers disbanded in 1976, Kabaka embarked on a successful solo career, releasing over 14 albums. In 2023, he made a remarkable comeback with the album "Abialam" after a 17-year hiatus. His music served as a tribute to Igbo culture and heritage, establishing him as one of the greatest Nigerian highlife musicians. Sadly, Kabaka passed away in 2024 at the age of 77.
