Kabuye Semboga is Uganda's beloved musician whose deep voice and captivating stories have defined his enduring career. Raised in Buloba and educated as a child, he was exposed to music through his participation in choirs and local bands. This initial love of song led him to an eventual professional career that would come to captivate audiences across Uganda.
It was in 1978 that Semboga's music career turned the corner when he joined Elly Wamala's iconic Mascots Band. Early on, he entertained crowds with cover versions of foreign tunes by Jim Reeves, Barry White, and Kenny Rogers. Performing sets at venues such as Antlas Inn in Bombo Road, he honed his skills, perfecting the art of live performance in a lively, competitive atmosphere. Although he began with other artists' songs, his natural ability quickly separated him from the crowd.
