Karin Kortje, born 12 August 1980 in Grabouw, Western Cape, is a South African singer best known as the winner of Idols SA Season 3 (2005). Raised in a Christian family, she began singing in church at five and later performed with The Groenberg Trio at Groenberg Secondary School. Despite losing her parents and brother while still young, she pursued music while working at the Two-A-Day fruit factory.
After winning Idols SA, Karin signed with Sony BMG and released her debut single “I’m So Ready”, followed by her Gold-certified 2006 album Forever and a Day under Giant Steps Records. The album produced hits like “Never Never Never” and “If I Can’t Have You.”
She later founded the Karin Kortje Foundation, mentoring young talents through Overberg’s Got Talent. A mother of four, she remains admired for her resilience, faith, and enduring influence in South African music.
