Born and raised in the Mamelodi Township, he taught himself guitar and became a celebrated musician known for his powerful voice and optimistic lyrics.
Vusi gained global recognition after performing at Nelson Mandela's inauguration in 1994 and has shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Dave Matthews, Sting, and Paul Simon.
He has released nine albums over the last two decades, including "Shebeen Queen," a celebration of the musical culture of his hometown.
Vusi has been honored with numerous awards for his cultural contributions, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the South African Music Awards, two honorary doctorate degrees, and the National Order of Ikhamanga.
