KCee, whose full name is Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and performer known for Afrobeats, highlife and pop music. Born in Ajegunle, Lagos, he has roots in Uli, Anambra State. His early exposure to music was influenced by his father, who worked as a disc jockey.
KCee began his professional music journey in 1999 as part of the duo KC Presh with Precious John, known as Presh. The duo gained national recognition after winning the Star Quest music competition in 2002 and later released projects including “Sio Nkpo,” and “Get Ready.” They split in 2011 and Kcee began his solo career.
His major breakthrough came in 2013 with “Limpopo,” produced by Del B. The song earned Song of the Year at The Headies and established him as a major Nigerian hitmaker. He has continued exploring contemporary Afrobeats and Igbo musical traditions through songs such as “Cultural Praise” and “Ojapiano.”
