Koloba Munnassingo Lutte Lukyamuzi, known as Kolobba Ow’amasanda, is a notable figure in Uganda’s Kadongo Kamu scene, best known for his hit “Amasanda Ga Ffene.” Emerging in the late 1980s, he used music as a subtle social commentary rooted in Uganda’s storytelling tradition. His standout track, “Amasanda Ganemeseza Okulya Fene,” creatively promotes condom use through poetic metaphor.
Though active since the ’80s, little is known about his early life. Still, his songs skillfully blended education and entertainment, using “amasanda” (snacks) and “fene” (jackfruit) as playful, thought-provoking symbols.
Kolobba may not have won major awards, but his influence endures in grassroots circles. His music thrived on local radio and in informal gatherings, appreciated for its humor, cultural depth, and health messaging.
