Leigh Ashton is a versatile South African singer-songwriter. Born in Manchester, England, Leigh relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa, at the age of three. He embarked on his music career early, signing as a singer-songwriter with David Gresham Productions at just 19. His debut single, "Love Me," was released in November 1975 and featured notable artists, including Trevor Rabin. In 1977, Ashton achieved chart success with his song "Tanya," reaching No. 12 on the South African charts and even gaining international recognition. Between 1978 and 1984, Ashton focused on songwriting, producing notable tracks like "Snowflakes in A Major," "Mother," and "The Park Hobo." He has been a member of SAMRO for four decades and performs for the love of music rather than financial dependence.
