Bio
Lienka Coetzee is a South African singer and songwriter recognized as a former member of the Afrikaans band ddisselblom. Her warm vocal tone and expressive delivery became central to the group’s identity, which combined folk, rock, and contemporary Afrikaans influences. Alongside Jaco Spies and Johrné van Huyssteen, she contributed to albums such as "Goud en Marog" (2004), "Donker Grond" (2007), and "Onskuld" (2009), as well as a greatest hits compilation. Ddisselblom gained strong recognition on the Afrikaans festival circuit, earning awards including the GMT Award for Best Afrikaans Group and Kanna Awards for live performance excellence. Beyond the band, Coetzee pursued solo work, releasing a self-titled album and recording collaborations such as “What Love Does” with Ross Learmonth of Prime Circle. She also appeared on Anton Goosen’s Groen Blomme-Projek in 2021. Her solo and collaborative work continues to reflect authenticity, lyrical focus, and a steady connection to Afrikaans musical expression.
