BioEmmanuel Mayungu Manuel d'Oliveira, professionally known as Manuel d'Olivera, was a singer, songwriter, performer and guitarist from Angola. He learnt how to strum the guitar in Matadi with the "Coastman" and the "Krou Boys". He founded the San Salvador group in 1944, and was one of the pioneers of Congolese rumba, imposing the San Salvador rhythm in his style.
After many rewarding years as a musician and activist, Manuel d'Olivera passed away on January 12, 1988 in Luanda, Angola.
