Moses “Supercharger” Nsubuga is a Ugandan musician, radio presenter, and HIV activist who has lived with the virus since 1994. Diagnosed during the peak of Uganda’s HIV epidemic, he spent four years in denial until his health collapsed. In 1998, treatment at TASO revived him and relaunched his music career, earning him the nickname “Supercharger.”
Later, inconsistent treatment due to cost led to another health crisis, but by 2000, he accessed second-line therapy and has remained adherent ever since. He founded the Stigma-less Band and co-leads PINA, mentoring HIV-positive youth.
Nsubuga now chairs community boards and champions research, access, and inclusion, using music and activism to challenge stigma and empower others.
