Bio
They call her the "Sweet Panther" because her voice effortlessly balances gentle grace with fierce sonic power. Born Mounira Khalil Alio on September 19, 1979, in N'Djaména, Chad, she bravely pushed past rigid local traditions and social restrictions to become a leading global face of Central African art. Her life took a dramatic turn when she walked away from a stable administrative desk at the Ministry of Justice to embrace her self-taught musical calling. That gamble paid off in 2007 when she captured the prestigious Prix Découvertes RFI. Supported by the Lusafrica label, she dropped two acclaimed records “Talou Lena,” (2008) and “Chili Houritki,” (2012) blending hypnotic desert folk with modern African pop. Also an accomplished actress and tireless humanitarian, Mounira uses her artistry to combat child marriage, champion women’s rights, and heal communities across the Sahel.
