Mr. Raw, born Okechukwu Edwards Ukeje, is a pioneering Nigerian rapper from Abia State, recognized for his role in popularizing indigenous rap in Igbo language. He began his career in the early 2000s under the name "Nigga Raw" but later rebranded to "Mr. Raw" due to evolving social sensitivities. His debut album, *Right & Wrong* (2005), showcased his unique blend of hip-hop and traditional Igbo rhythms, earning him significant acclaim. Known for his witty lyricism and cultural pride, Mr. Raw helped shape the Nigerian hip-hop landscape. Hits like "Obodo" and "Hip Hop Gyration" solidified his reputation, making him one of the early voices that bridged local dialects with mainstream Nigerian music.
