Bio
If you know Lugaflow, you’ve likely heard the name Mun G. Known for his clever wordplay and signature Lugaflow flair, he’s established a space that’s both sharp-witted and unmistakably local. Mun G, born Mungi Emmanuel Matovu, is a Ugandan rapper known for his sharp lyricism and command of Lugaflow. Raised by his mother after losing his father at 13, he studied at Bright Grammar, Aga Khan (Masaka), and later graduated from Makerere University with a Computer Science degree. His stage name, Mun G, stems from dropping the ‘i’ in “Mungi,” with the ‘G’ signifying “too much” in hip-hop bravado. Influenced by Nas, Jay-Z, and Eminem, he emerged in 2009 with “Ebintu” and once worked under Baboon Forest. A 2019 MTN Hip-Hop Award winner, Mun G is also a real estate investor and Guinness brand ambassador. He lives with his wife Clara and their son in Uganda.
