    Musa DIENG KALA was born and raised in Senegal. He managed Youssou N'Dour's recording studio in Dakar from 1991 to 1993. During this period, Musa produced many video clips. In 1993, he emigrated to Montreal, Canada, where he was educated in filmmaking and discovered his talent as a singer. Inspired by Sufi poems and the teaching of his spiritual master, sheik Amadou Bamba, Musa produced his first album in 1996. The media nicknamed him the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan of Black Africa. In 1996, Musa obtained a Bachelor of Arts in cinema at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi.
