"Sira" (2008) from this collaboration even reached the top 10 on the world music radio charts. Cissoko also explored traditional Persian music in collaboration with the Constantinople ensemble. Later, he was elected the mayor of Niafunké, a town in his country. On March 6, 2006, Touré died of bone cancer at age 66.
