Mwenda wa Bayeke, real name Jean-Bosco Mwenda, was a Congolese guitarist who invented the fingerstyle acoustic guitar genre. Mwenda was renowned for his innovative approach to playing the guitar, which influenced the evolution of Congolese music. The intricate fingerpicking patterns and rhythmic guitar playing of Mwenda were distinctive. He was regarded as one of the most prominent and influential African fingerstyle guitarist virtuosos of his time.
