Dikeledi Portia "Nkele" Modubu, aka Nkele, is a singer, songwriter, drummer, marimba player, and an active member of the all-female music band Abafazi Bengoma Original. Born in Naledi, Soweto, she discovered her love for music at an early age, joining her grandmother's church and the church choir at six. Throughout her teenage years, she engaged in community activities, including drama, dance, and music. Nkele's professional career began in 2006 with performances in Gibson Kente's productions, "Mfowethu" and "The Call." She has collaborated with international artists, worked on award-winning productions, and collaborated with Jullian Seleke Mokoto in productions like "She Died Dreaming." As the lead singer and co-songwriter of the Dikosha band, she released a gospel album, "Entabeni Kancwane," in 2013.
