Nsambya Catholic Choir, composed of volunteer parishioners of all ages, is the flagship choir of St Peter’s Catholic Parish on Nsambya Hill, Kampala, established in 1895 by the Mill Hill Fathers. Rooted in the Archdiocese of Kampala, the choir plays a central role in liturgical life, animating services at St Peter’s Proto-Cathedral and participating in major Catholic gatherings, including the annual Uganda Martyrs Day at Namugongo. It has contributed to national events, such as concerts honouring late composers and the historic 1969 Mass led by Pope John Paul II, where their performance earned papal praise. As part of the post–Vatican II revival of indigenous sacred music, the choir blends Luganda hymns with global Catholic liturgy. In 2024, they released "Omwoyo Gwa Katonda," a ten-track sacred and devotional album under the Worldbeat label. Today, Nsambya Catholic Choir remains a vital cultural and spiritual force in Uganda’s Catholic community.
