Bio
Oleseng Shadrack Shuping was a powerhouse of South African traditional gospel, remembered for his unique "growling" vocal style and unwavering faith. Born in 1963 with a severe speech impediment, his family celebrated his eventual healing as a miracle, which paved the way for his lifelong musical ministry. He first gained prominence as the leader of the Atteridgeville Happy Boys, bringing male choral music to the mainstream with songs like "Mahlomoleng A Ka." As a solo artist, Shuping reached unprecedented heights, particularly with his 2003 triple-platinum album, “Kea Cha, Kea Tuka.” His music, including the hit "Segopole Boikhantsho," blended traditional rhythms with deep spiritual messages. Even after a tragic 2006 car accident left him a quadriplegic and struggling with lung issues, he remained an industry pillar through his own production label. His passing in 2010 marked the loss of a true "giant," yet his recordings continue to inspire millions across the continent.
